Mayor Conway met with Senator Carl Marcellino to discuss matters of mutual interest to villagers. The Senator represents the 5th Senate District on Long Island, which includes Upper Brookville, and has been very helpful over the years.
He is currently working to assist the village with grants to defray the cost of both moving the Village Hall and resurfacing key roads. In addition, as a Co-Chair of the Transportation Committee, he is intrigued by our effort to create a Special Assessment District to facilitate and lower the cost of snow removal and road resurfacing for residents on the 35 private village roads. As a member of the Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks and Recreation Committee, he may also provide assistance that impacts our tenancy with the Planting Fields Historic State Park.
Updating Conway on Governor Cuomo’s proposed bridge /tunnel from Oyster Bay/Bayville across Long Island Sound, the Senator said “It’s not going to happen.” Although the Governor has hired a consultant to study the project, the Senator will continue to oppose it.
